The sole purpose of a frameless shower door is to be able to contain the water splashes inside the shower and direct them towards the drain instead of leaking out. Close it and spray water along the track and each corner to check for problem areas. Clogged drain holes framed shower doors usually have drain holes located along the bottom inside edge of the frame. In a corner shower the shower head sprays water directly onto the door exerting more force and water. Examine the inside of the shower door frame for old caulking material. Wait a day or two for any leaked water to dry.

Should the leak be discovered recaulk the door. Go for at least a few minutes in case yours is a slower leak. It is likely that the builder applied caulking to seal the door frame to prevent water from leaking. Never an easy thing to find a source of leak but a good contractor will have a good guess.

Frameless doors however don t have these protective seals around them. The leak isn t always noticeable but the damage it causes over the years is obvious. What causes shower door water leaks.
